Stephen Wilson

Stephen Wilson has worked in authentication and data protection for 30 years. He provides independent advice and original research in privacy engineering, cyber risk, technology trust strategies, and nation-scale digital identity frameworks. His technical specialisations include verifiable credentials, public key infrastructure, blockchain, the “Identity of Things”. Stephen is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), the Australian Institute of Company Directors, the Identiverse conference content committee, and is an honorary life member of AISA. He is a former member of the NSW Digital Identity Ministerial Advisory Committee, the National Blockchain Roadmap Security working group, and the World Health Organisation smart vaccination certificate working group. His original research in data protection and privacy engineering has been presented at or published by AISA, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, NIST, the European Commission, the Turing Institute, MIT, Harvard Law School, Science, and Nature. As a privacy consultant, Stephen has provided privacy impact assessments and Privacy by Design advice to the NSW Government’s COVID-19 program, the Attorney-General’s Department, the health departments of NSW, Victoria and Queensland, numerous NGOs and peak bodies, and U.S. health insurance giant Aetna.
