Synopsis

Hybrid threats, involve the integration of conventional and unconventional tactics by state and non-state actors to exploit vulnerabilities and achieve strategic objectives, are a clear and present danger. The focus of hybrid threat research has been in relation to National Security and Geo-political security considerations.

This presentation will focus on commercial organisations and the ways that hybrid threats can impact commercial organisations. By understanding hybrid threats, organisational policymakers and security practitioners can develop effective countermeasures to mitigate their impact. This paper also presents a number of real-life case studies related to hybrid threats and commercial organisations.

The presentation will explore the unique challenges that organisations face in terms of hybrid threats. The presentation will focus on a number of real-life cyber examples namely:

  1. The impact of hybrid threats upon commercial organisations;
  2. The Viasat Case Study;
  3. Hybrid threats that financial organisations face.
  4. How Geopolitical considerations impact commercial organisations from a cyber security perspective;
  5. How commercial organisations can deal with the issue of hybrid threats.
