Welbie Chan

Welbie Chan is an experienced AI Security Architect at Accenture, helping clients securely design and deploy Generative AI technologies to maximize value and minimize risk. With over 10 years of experience in sales, technology, and cybersecurity, he has led significant cybersecurity initiatives from both a technical and GRC perspective, focusing on Government and Critical Infrastructure.

Before joining Accenture, Welbie developed a multifaceted skillset in security.  He led security assessments, architected secure applications for critical systems, and honed his communication skills through numerous client workshops and presentations.

Prior to Accenture, Welbie worked at CSIRO and KPMG to develop a multifaceted skillset in security.  He led security assessments, architected secure applications for critical systems, and honed his communication skills through numerous client workshops and presentations.

In his current role, Welbie focuses on providing pragmatic, tailored advice to his clients on the latest AI security threats, risks, and vulnerabilities, with actionable recommendations to improve AI security posture. His guidance ranges from strategic enterprise-level AI adoption risks advice to technical security specifications and tooling required to mitigate risks on a use case level. He is also a seasoned speaker, known for making complex technical concepts easy to understand.

Outside of his professional role, Welbie is an avid AI enthusiast and emerging Generative AI engineer, bringing real-world experience to his clients. He has deployed a successful closed-beta Gen AI mobile app for food discovery with a startup team, and has ongoing research focused on on AI vulnerabilities, particularly Prompt Injection. This hands-on experience in AI development and Red Teaming uniquely positions him to understand and mitigate potential security risks in AI systems.
