Professor Richard Buckland is an expert in Cyber Security from the School of Computer Science and Engineering UNSW.
He is the Director of SECedu - the UNSW/CommBank Security Engineering Capability partnership, Director of Education of the UNSW Institute for Cyber Security and serves on the advisory boards of a number of other educational institutions including the cyber advisory board for TAFE NSW. He has served as Director of Professional Education and Chair of the Academic Board of the Australian Computer Society, Director of Education of the Australian Centre for Cyber Security, long term member of the UNSW Academic Board, and a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia.
He was the Australian and New Zealand Engineering Educator of the Year (Engineers Australia) and the Australian ICT Educator of the Year (iAwards) and has been the recipient of 10 national and international peer reviewed awards in teaching and education including awards from the Australian College of Educators and the Australian Learning and Teaching Council. He frequently appears in the the media on cybersecurity and related issues. He has been training highly sought after cyber attackers and defenders for over 20 years, has taught nearly twenty thousand students face to face and hundreds of thousands online where his videos have received millions of views. He is a passionate educator with great faith in his students.
