Rene is Wipro’s Cybersecurity Lead for the Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa (APMEA). He brings together an onshore capability of 200+ Cyber SME’s and a 300+ team of off-shore Cyber delivery and managed services, leveraging and collaborating with our overall Global Cyber Risk Services of 9,000+ SME’s.
Rene is a Strategic Security Advisor to many of Australia’s senior executives. He has a broad depth of experience in senior information security and technology roles for large international organisations. Rene’s career in Information Technology spans over twenty-eight years, of which twenty years has been in the cyber security domain in South Africa, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Australia. Rene has acquired expertise in several areas during his career including executive leadership, business management, operations management, cyber advisory, security architecture and engineering.
Prior to joining Wipro, Rene was the founder and CEO of Zimbani, one of Australia’s leading cyber security companies which experienced triple digit growth rates in all eight years of operation and delivered thousands of client engagements globally.
Previously, Rene was also a Senior Partner in Deloitte Australia after the acquisition of Zimbani, where he was the Lead Partner for Cyber Strategy with responsibility for national detect and respond offensive security capabilities. Rene provided end-to-end Cyber solutions to the national client base. Rene is a recipient of the Australian Financial Review (AFR) Fast Starters 2016 and Fast 100 2017, Deloitte Tech 50 2017 and CRN Fast50 2017 awards.
