Jess Modini is a Senior Technologist at Amazon Web Services and an Academic at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA). Jess has over 13 years' experience working in engineering, defence and national security. Prior to AWS, Jess worked at the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC). Jess holds 5 Master’s qualifications in Cybersecurity Operations, Systems Engineering, Space Operations, Project Management and International Relations (Security). Jess is currently undertaking a Doctorate in Cyber Security, focussing on applications of epidemiology to cyber security (Cyber Epidemiology) for malware detection at scale. Jess is a casual academic at UNSW ADFA, guest lecturing on information assurance and cyber resilience, and collaborating globally on cybersecurity research problems including APT attack detection with the Institute of Information Science, Academia Sinica in Taiwan. Jess is passionate about national security, global cyber threat intelligence sharing and multidisciplinary approaches to cyber resilience.
