Dr. Bethany Sinclair-Giardini works as a Principal Consultant for a small boutique information services consultancy in Melbourne. Her background as a digital archivist often sees her straddling the disciplinary divide between Information Management (IM) and Information Technology (IT).
Having worked in IM for three decades, both in the UK and Australia, Bethany's work has evolved over the years, as archiving has moved from the physical to the digital landscape. She has long recognised that information security and privacy are twin pillars that cannot work without effective data/information/records governance.
During her work, she is exposed to many different organisations and is expert at finding gaps in compliance around effective data lifecycle management. If organisations are throwing money at cyber security, then they need to be throwing equal amounts of funding into data and records governance. They go hand in hand. Bethany's day to day work includes carrying out information security audits, privacy audits, and plain old records management audits.
She is adept at unpacking compliance at all levels within her client companies and enjoys charting new trajectories into action and work plans. One of her favourite occupational activities is to audit line-of-business systems, as they always house a plethora of business risks.
Bethany can be found on LinkedIn and always enjoys a passionate conversation over a coffee with industry colleagues.
