Synopsis
Deepfakes, hyper-realistic synthetic media created using artificial intelligence (AI), have emerged as an effective tool for cyber threats. The exploits have recently been hitting the news. From misinformation, fake news, spear phishing, to biometric and identity usurpation, malicious actors are getting more and more creative to use this technology for fraudulent purpose.
In this session, we will commence with an introduction to deepfakes, offering an overview of their nature, generation process, and underlying motivations. Subsequently, we will delve into the current landscape of recent deepfake attacks, explore the artifacts left by the algorithms that aid in identification, and discuss potential mitigation strategies. Additionally, we'll glimpse into the future, considering advanced deepfake attack scenarios and defensive measures.
By attending this talk, participants will gain a better understanding of real-world deepfake scenarios and the strategies to mitigate associated risks. The primary objective of this session is to enhance awareness about this ongoing and evolving threat.
