Synopsis

Come and see the machine behind the life and death struggle at the birth of computing and cyber.

The Enigma cipher machine is one of the most powerful and enigmatic creations of the 20th century. Its broad employment by Germany in WWII forced the allies to accelerate the development of computing to counter the threat of machine-speed crypto.

This talk will discuss the evolution and significance of the Enigma machine family, supported by live demo of an M1 Enigma and other machines, and original German Cipher code books for entering the daily settings.

Most people with an interest in both technology and history have heard of the Enigma machine. But few have heard the story concurrent with a live demo of a fully operational machine to underscore the principles of its development, operation and ultimate compromise.
