Synopsis

Since the earliest days of Office (now Microsoft) 365 in Australia, our team has been working with government, critical infrastructure, and enterprise to enable the productivity benefits of emerging Microsoft capabilities while also managing the associated risks. While M365 includes many great security capabilities, most are not on by default (and can easily be missed - especially when they are buried multiple layers deep in the consoles).

In this presentation, I'll walk you through a typical M365 tenant and not only tell you how to configure it securely, but actually show you how - including for recently released features such as Copilot! This also includes alignment with zero trust frameworks for those of you starting on that journey.

Other examples include (but aren't limited to):

  • Configuring MFA (effectively)
  • Automated risk assessment for users and devices
  • Turning off social media (it will be turned on for you)
  • Getting the most out of the various Defender tools
  • Using AI features (and others that phone-home) safely
  • Making Intune/MEM do the work for you

Whether you are starting from scratch with a brand new tenant, or have inherited one in an unknown state, this presentation will teach you how to get on top of it.

As a bonus, you'll also see features of M365 E3 & E5 licensing that you may not even realise existed, that you can use to increase ROI by simply clicking a few buttons..
