Synopsis

This session comes with a trigger warning as it contains references to themes of online Child Sexual Abuse Material and the nefarious side of the internet, which some individuals may find distressing.

This is perhaps one of the most important sessions that all parents and caregivers must attend. Your presenter, Jacqueline Jayne (JJ), is a cybersecurity expert and the Mother of an 18-year-old.

After speaking to thousands of parents and caregivers over the years, there is no doubt that the gap in understanding this topic is immense. And it's not your fault. Adults are making the same mistakes kids make online, and many of you don't know what you don't know; you need awareness, education, and support.

Here are some of the issues kids are experiencing online that parents and caregivers must be aware of. It's scary.

Online grooming, cyberbullying, trolls, unwanted contact, radicalisation, pornography, sexting, revenge porn, catfishing, fake news, disturbing content, addiction, sextortion, privacy, deep fakes, Generative AI, screentime, gaming, social media and more.

During this session, JJ will cover the following topics with the lens of awareness, education, and advice. You will also have access to the entire presentation and resources you can apply immediately.

This session will cover the issues our kids face, a profile of their adversaries, the points of access being used, and everyone involved behaviours and attitudes.

Then, JJ will explain the importance of understanding your child's online world, how to prepare for conversations and strategies to get everyone involved, and what to do when it all goes pear-shaped (because it will).

This session's intent is to empower you with a helpful knowledge toolkit and a roadmap for keeping kids (and yourself) safe online.
