Synopsis

Joseph Banks Secondary College has strategically developed opportunities for students to explore and be curious about their future through purposeful collaboration with the Cyber Industry and Tertiary Providers of Cyber Education.

Together with our partners, P-TECH Cyber Solutions was introduced at Joseph Banks Secondary College. The success of the initial program in 2020, has expanded over five years to include a clear pathway of cyber learning in Years 7-12, to enable students to engage with a variety of content, and develop STEM work capabilities through structured mentoring with industry partners. Students complete microcredentials and recognised qualifications, to graduate highschool with a clear pathway to industry.

In this session learn how the leadership of the College has worked with industry and tertiary partners to develop a collaborative approach to provide opportunities for students to explore and be curious as to career opportunities in cybersecurity and how early engagement with high school students can strategically help grow the STEM workforce, and prepare future employees for success in cyber security careers.

The Future is Now, and there is much to learn when education and industry work together to build a capable future workforce.

This workshop will provide an overview of our structures and curriculum, and enhance participants knowledge, skills and understanding of our cyber security approach and pose ways for participants to make connections with secondary education.

The College continually develops and refines our P-TECH Cyber Solutions program.

  • Staff develop their capacity to remain current with industry and use this to inform our teaching and learning program
  • Staff consult with industry seeking feedback to improve opportunities with the ultimate goal of developing students cyber pathways,
  • Staff lead professional learning for teachers, developing teacher understanding and pedagogy in cyber security
  • Staff lead parent and community engagement evenings with guest speakers to upskill others
  • Staff promote and build the pipeline from secondary education through to cyber security tertiary study and the cyber security workforce.

Join us. Listen to our story.
