Synopsis

There are few certainties in life, however we all know that eventually we will pass away. How do you want to leave your digital legacy?

As citizens in this modern world, it is almost impossible to not have any form of digital footprint. Chances are you have a large quantity of digital identities and accounts. But what happens to these when you pass way?

Come with me for a journey of what my family had to do while grieving my late Grandfather with his digital identities. We discovered activities and behaviours that we as a family had suspicions about but were never understood. Our family knew some of his online activities were with strangers he had never met, and we believed he could have been involved in some online scams.

I will walk through:

  • Where we started…no information was left behind
  • Access to his digital devices
  • Mapping his digital identities
  • Performing discovery…not all was pleasant.

I will provide my lessons learned through this process and steps I believe you can take to make sure you only need to remember the precious memories.
