Synopsis

“It is a truth universally acknowledged, that an enterprise which claims to not have or support macOS devices, must be in want of better asset visibility.” — what Jane Austen might’ve said, if she was an ITSM.

It’s 2024, and macOS devices continue to creep into enterprise environments. No longer the coveted exclusive property of creative departments, enterprises who are looking to offer better employee experience and more choice are taking a hard look at their “Windows first and only” policies.

But of course, while “Macs don’t get viruses” was never true, IT and Security teams also don’t have the time to build a parallel management plane to support a small portion of end-user devices.

In this talk, I’ll be walking through how to build a robust macOS security program, including the differences in risks between macOS and Windows devices, how controls compare, examples how of the controls could be implemented, and lessons learned from past experiences.
